Shares Outstanding – datatype (NOSHOU)

The number of shares that have been issued and are currently owned by investors. This may include shares publicly traded and not traded, such as restricted shares owned by company employees. Shares that have been repurchased by the company as treasury shares are excluded.

NOSHOU is expressed in thousands.

For the primary Datastream share type see NOSH, if the share definition for NOSH is Outstanding Shares then NOSHOU will not be populated. NOSH is the measure used to calculate market value.
