Major Security Flag – datatype (MAJOR)

 

MAJOR indicates the primary security within a company or entity, in the form of a Y or N flag.

 

Only one security within a company or entity can be assigned MAJOR, usually the initial security listed or largest by market cap. Any secondary quotes linked to the major security will also return Y. See illustration below for Alphabet and its issued securities:
