Turnover by Volume – datatype (VO)
The number of shares traded, expressed in thousands.
VO typically represents the number of shares traded ‘on exchange’ (also known as Orderbook) during market open. However, exceptions do exist, for example the London SE equity volumes include ‘off exchange’ volumes.
For a full list of supported exchanges and volume definitions see Datastream Volume Coverage & Definitions.
VO is adjusted for corporate actions, for unadjusted volume see UVO.
VO is unpadded, meaning on dates the quote has not traded then n/a will be displayed. For padded volume values see VP.
Depending on the exchange, alternative Volume variants are available. See below for the full set of Datastream Volume datatypes:
VO Volume VB Volume - Orderbook VF Volume – Off Exchange VZ Volume - Aggregated VC Volume - Consolidated VK Volume - Block VQ Volume – Most Traded VS Volume – Basket
