Unadjusted Price - Datatype(UP)
The exchange unadjusted close price.
Prices are denominated in the major currency for all markets except the UK where pound sterling traded securities are displayed in pence.
UP is unadjusted for corporate actions, for adjusted prices see P.
UP is padded, meaning on dates the quote has not traded then the previously recorded value is carried forward (includes market holidays). For unpadded values see UP#S.
Some exchanges publish an alternative close price, for example Borsa Italiana disseminate an Official Close and Reference Price, in such instances Datastream will use the alternative close price datatype UPX.
For a full list of close price coverage see Datastream Close Price Definitions.
For markets that consist of more than one exchange the datatype will return the close price of the default exchange. Using Japan as an example, the Toyota Motor price will return the close price for Tokyo (exchange code TY), to return the close price for Nagoya suffix the UP datatype with the exchange code ‘NG’, so UP becomes UP.NG.
Weekend Pricing: Bahrain, Bangladesh, Egypt, Iraq, Israel, Jordan, Kuwait, Oman, Palestine, Qatar, Saudi Arabia and Syria exchanges operate a Sunday to Thursday trading week, Datastream only displays weekday dates therefore the Sunday price is stored on the previous Friday. The Sunday price is updated at 20:00 GMT.
